My Story
I joined Scenty in June of 2008 on my birthday so I call it 'the best birthday present I have ever given to myself'! When I was first introduced to it by my childhood friend, Jackie, I thought it would be perfect for both my classroom and my home. I am an elementary teacher and a few years ago I had a student who had suffered from severe burns that were caused by a candle. When she was four her dress caught on fire from the flame of a candle. When I met her I made a vow that I wouldn't have candles in my home for fear of what a fire can do. However, this posed a problem for me, as I love my house to smell good. Ta-da! Scentsy was the answer! I can safely have Scentsy in both my home and classroom. Since our wax is warmed by a lightbulb it doesn't get warm enough to burn (little fingers that may explore in it) nor does it let off any yucky soot.I decided to become a consultant hoping to make enough fun money each month that I could maybe get a great hair cut , buy a fun purse or a pair of rockin' shoes without effecting our family budget. So far, Scentsy has surpassed all of my expectations. Although the monetary part of it is wonderful (and has changed our lives) the best part of this journey has been the friendships I've made and/or rekindled. I've met some amazing people who have become special souls in my life and without Scentsy I am not sure our paths would have crossed. Not only that, its kind of become a family business. My little sister in Tennessee is a director, my cousin in Nebraska just promoted to director and a big handful of some of my oldest, closest friends are now consultants too. I love having this business in common with them! Scentsy has blessed and enhanced my life in more ways than I can count. The icing on the cake has been that now I don't have to teach for a paycheck. I teach each day because it's where I want to be and what I want to be doing. Scentsy has lifted that looming fact that I was teaching for a paycheck. Now I get to teach only because it is where my passion lies. How lucky can a girl be? I am getting the chance to do what I love in all aspects of my life! That's all I wish for my own four children so I am blessed to be able to lead by example.I am so proud to say that I am part of the Scentsy family. We have wonderful leadership who impart such great vision and perspective. Being a part of this business and in the company of such remarkable people has helped me grow as a person, step outside of my box to take risks, and use talents and gifts I had no idea were inside of me.
